covid-19 coping tips

Outbreaks and pandemics can cause a lot of stress and anxiety. It is normal to feel sad, stressed, confused, scared or angry during a crisis. But how do you manage these emotions? Here are a few COVID-19 coping tips to help you.

1. Maintain a healthy lifestyle

Eat healthy, well-balanced meals, exercise regularly, and get enough sleep. If you ever feel overwhelmed, take deep breathes, stretch, meditate, or do Yoga. Do not turn to alcohol or drugs.

2. Take a break from media coverage

Exposing yourself to news about the pandemic over and over could get you upset. Put down your gadgets and refrain from media exposure, especially on social media. It could get very toxic so take your time to detach until you’re ready.

3. Gather facts from reliable sources

If you can’t totally get yourself away from the news, then might as well get the facts from reliable sources like the World Health Organization (WHO) and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

4. Relax and have fun

Do things that will help you unwind. Watch movies and series, read books, do arts and crafts, or explore an old or new hobby.

5. Hone your talents and skills

If you have stopped your job because of the quarantine situation, it’s about time you level up your talents and skills. There are lot of platforms offering online courses, webinars, and virtual exercises for a wide range of topics. The sky’s the limit to the skills you can acquire while at home.

6. Connect with people

Talk to someone you trust. Have the right support from family or friends. Or you could also consult a health worker or counsellor if it already gets too overwhelming and unmanageable. You may check out our COVID-19 resources if you want to call for help.
